Away in a lecture
No soft proper bed
The weary law student
Laid down his sad head
The lecturer below
Looked up and he saw
A student who'd never
Made Dean's List before.
--sorry, my inspiration these few days has been sporadic and wryly-humoured.

How To Dump A Lawyer
A law student had his eyes set on one of the pretty girls in campus. He set about his suit with great enthusiasm until he found out that she was from the same faculty as he, only a few years older.
One day, he asked her out for a movie, which she gladly accepted. However, at the appointed time, he was nowhere to be seen. Hurt and upset, the girl left and received a call from him a few hours later.
"Sorry for not making it.."
"Where were you? That was in total breach of contract!"
"No it wasn't.. There was no intention to create legal relations."

Breakdown
God will make a way
where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me
where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me

Crusade
who am i
that the Lord of all the earth
would care to know my name
would care to feel my hurt
who am i
that the bright and morning star
would choose to light the way
for my ever wandering heart
not because of who i am
but because of what You've done
not because of what i've done
but because of who You are
i am
a flower quickly fading
here today and gone tomorrow
a wave tossed in the ocean
a vapour in the wind
still You hear me when i'm calling
Lord You catch me when i'm falling
You've told me who i am
i am Yours
that the Lord of all the earth
would care to know my name
would care to feel my hurt
who am i
that the bright and morning star
would choose to light the way
for my ever wandering heart
not because of who i am

Tempest Rising
a nameless soul
among so many others
a scream swallowed by the wind
lightningthunder
borne upon darkest wings
the void of eternity
among so many others
a scream swallowed by the wind
lightningthunder
borne upon darkest wings
the void of eternity

Legal Technicalities
I find this very disturbing.
**
A woman is drowning in a swimming pool and calls for help as two men pass. The first of the two men leaps into the water and swims towards her; the second of the two men is passive and stands by to watch.
By Fate or otherwise, the first man reaches the woman just as she goes under. He dives to pull her back up, brings her back to shore, and performs CPR in vain.
When the autopsy results are released (her death resulted from asphyxiation) and the investigation is called, the first man finds himself under suspicion of having a hand in the death. Even after official court proceedings clear his name, he is presented with a lawsuit by the woman's family, suing him for failing to save her.
No one knows what happened to the second man, or where he went.
But everything that happened in this hypothetical situation is completely within the realm of the law.
**
The law cannot prosecute anyone for an act of omission.
